Ukiyoe pictures were expensive because most of them were original paintings, but by coming up with the idea of making them by the wood-block printing process, he helped them spread rapidly.

A drawing of a woman stopping to look back while walking shows the way of tying a ladies’ obi popular in the 1650s and a red kimono with chrysanthemum and ume blossom embroidery.
